Hubble’s law

Produced by the Royal Observatory Greenwich, this collection introduces Hubble’s law and the expansion of the Universe. Included is an online video that discusses how big the Universe is. Material is differentiated for key stage four and key stage five students. The key stage five content links the recessional velocity to the Doppler effect. Equations and physical terms are introduced and discussed. Questions and answers are included that test a student’s understanding of the physical and mathematical concepts. Though designed for key stage four and five, teachers may find the video a suitable resource to engage key stage three students during an astronomy module or extra-curricular classes.
