Making a car body

This resource encourages pupils to make a card model of a car body from a net. Pupils will learn about nets, wheels and axles. They will combine these technologies to make the base and body for a vehicle made from card. This activity introduces and builds on knowledge of nets to make a complex three-dimensional shape suitable for the body shell of a car. It could be used at key stage one to develop practical skills making nets, or at key stage two to build skills and the design and evaluation process. Pupils are provided with the opportunity to customise their car bodies by adding colour or graphics, adding to the design process and pupil levels of engagement. All of the resources required to run this activity are provided, including a teacher guide, presentation, activity card and car body nets.
