What Is Astrobiology?

From the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), this resource describes the new and exciting subject that brings together many different branches of science. Astrobiology is the study of how life formed and developed on the Earth, the conditions that made this possible and whether these conditions can exist elsewhere in the Universe. This resource explains the many different projects funded by STFC and three other research councils: the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC), the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC). Each of these research councils is part of the Research Councils UK (RCUK) partnership.
