The Primary Science Specialist Programme: evaluation

Published in 2015, the Wellcome Trust worked with the National STEM Learning Centre and Network to develop an intensive continuing professional development (CPD) programme for primary teachers to improve their expertise, in order to become Primary Science Leaders in their schools.

The Trust commissioned the University of York to help them understand the impacts of the CPD, using a randomised controlled trial, which followed participants throughout the delivery of the CPD and also for a year afterwards. The reports provide rich data that explore quantifiable impacts and the factors in schools that can influence the success of CPD.
