Predators and Prey - EAL

This well presented resource contains activities to help students identify predators and prey from their characteristics and adaptations.  It is then extended with activities to help students use the correct language to explain why certain characteristics are useful for prey.

A series of flashcards with clear images of various animals can be used in a sorting exercise to identify predators and prey and those that could be both.  The same images are also used on worksheets, found in the teaching notes, for non-native English speakers to translate the key words into their own language.   Another worksheet can be used to help students identify the characteristics of predators and prey.  Substitution tables can then be used to help students write sentences to explain why particular characteristics are useful for prey or predators.
