Slimming

This Nuffield Working with Science unit was designed to enable students to enquire systematically into slimming. It was intended to give them information about such things as balanced diets, the dangers of undereating and overeating, the social pressures on people to be slim, ways of slimming, and the energy content of a variety of foods. It also aimed to improve their skills in accurate measurement, drawing graphs, reading tables, interpreting data, abstracting and presenting data, and coherent communication, both spoken and written.

Guidance for teachers and technicians appears in Teachers’ Notes A.

This unit was not included in the second, CPVE edition of the project.
