Mathematics Quality and Assessment Reports: Standards Reports 2002

This Standards Report from QCA was written with the purpose providing schools and those involved in the training of teachers with detailed information about student responses to the 2002 national curriculum tasks and tests.

The Key Stage Two report is one element of the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority’s (QCA) evaluation of the 2002 national assessments at Key Stage 2. Its purpose was to provide schools and those involved in the training of teachers with detailed information about student responses to the 2002 national curriculum tests.

The information in the report gives a unique insight into performance across England and had important implications for teaching and learning. Schools could use this information as a yardstick against which to compare their own student’s performance.

Separate implications for teaching and learning leaflets were distributed to schools in
November 2002. These should be placed in the context of this analysis of the national
curriculum tests. The evidence on which these implications are based is discussed within this report.
