James Evelyn

As part of the series From Good to Outstanding, this Teachers TV video follows primary teacher James Evelyn as he works to improve his teaching. School Inspector Clare Gillies assesses James as he teaches a mixed Year Three and Four lesson on data handling. In her feedback, Clare indicates clear areas for improvement, including greater use of differentiation and making the learning more relevant.

Mathematics Consultant Andrew Jeffrey provides James with one-to-one training, encouraging him to reinforce students' learning by asking them to explain what they have learned.

Voice and communications coach Ulrike Schulte-Baukloh works with James to improve his presentation skills. He then has three weeks back in the classroom to put the advice into action before Clare returns to observe a second lesson and deliver her final assessment.
