Managing GCSE Coursework 1

In this Teachers TV programme, two teachers discuss how they encourage their students to take a creative and independent approach to their GCSE coursework rather than ‘jumping through exam board hoops’.

Lorraine John teaches textiles at Swanmore College of Technology in Hampshire and believes that good preparation at Key Stage Three and giving students the freedom to choose design briefs has worked well.

Stuart Barker teaches electronics at Coopers Technology College in Kent. His approach is to stress the importance of market research. He also believes that students can learn from examining the work of students from previous years, whereas Lorraine believes that this can limit creativity.
