This video from Teachers TV observes mathematics teacher Jonny Heeley as he inspires a group of gifted and talented Year Ten students with an interactive lesson demonstrating how algebra can be applied to solve a selection of real problems.
Using a variety of games and challenges to excite and entertain his students and dispel pre-conceived ideas that algebra is a difficult subject, the wider application of algebraic theorems and proof is clearly demonstrated.
Jonny won The Guardian Award for Teacher of the Year in a Secondary School in the North of England in 2007.
