Volume of 3-Dimensional Shapes

This video resource from Teachers TV is presented by Fran and Dave, who demonstrate practical applications of mathematics as they show how to calculate the volume of cylinders and prisms.

Graphics are used to demonstrate how to work out the volume of a cuboid, cylinder and prism. A problem is posed which requires the height of a cylinder, given the volume and radius, to be found.

Calculations are performed in stages throughout the video, offering a pause point for teachers to hold a freeze frame on screen while students discuss the problem and perform the calculations themselves.
