Light: Lesson Review

In this Teachers TV programme Jane Turner, deputy director of the Science Learning Centre, (East of England), and Helen Ackerman, an NQT (Newly Qualified Teacher), review a science lesson Helen taught to her Year One class on light.

They discuss the range of activities carried out in class and their effectiveness in developing children’s learning. Clips showing successful learning are highlighted within the lesson and they discuss the activities which didn’t work so well and how to improve upon them.

Jane also acknowledges the importance of incorporating play-based learning throughout Key Stage One as a natural progression from foundation stage.
