Patterns In Nature

This is a Teachers’ TV programme from the series Painting with Numbers. In this episode Professor Marcus du Sautoy explains how mathematicians use numbers and equations to represent the world around us. He demonstrates how mathematics is threaded through the natural world by taking us on a journey showing how Fibonacci numbers appear in plant growth, that Pythagoras investigated proportion using musical notes and the equations that need to be solved in order to score the perfect goal in football.
