Air Resistance
This video from Teachers TV demonstrates a practical science lesson idea for Key Stage Two children on how air resistance works. The idea is to design a parachute for an egg to land safely when dropped from a height. Professor Pete has made some model parachutes using plastic bags, string and yoghurt pots. A fireman tests the parachutes by launching eggs from the top of a ladder. The egg without a parachute, unsurprisingly, smashes. After trying various other parachutes, a black bin liner is announced the winner, creating enough air resistance for the egg to safely float down to the ground.
