Nuffield Maths: Bronto Books Set D

Nuffield Foundation provide these resources from the Nuffield Maths 5-11 project, which allow students the opportunity to practice using and reading simple mathematical vocabulary. They support, as well as extend, the basic mathematical concepts introduced to young children.

The image of Bronto at the foot of some pages provides elements of surprise, security and fun, as well as making comments that underline or extend the ideas illustrated on that page.

Bird has three eggs - a simple introduction to one-to-one correspondence.

Bronto at the fair - familiarises students with the vocabulary of comparison, position and quantity.

Bronto at the zoo - familiarises students with the vocabulary of position and counting.

Bronto visits the dentist - introduces several starting point from which mathematical ideas may be developed such as; wide, wider, place, in and out.

Bronto and the rocket - familiarises students with the vocabulary of spatial and positional concepts.

Bird, Frog and Bronto - introduces the three main characters, Bronto, Bird and Frog.
