Problems - Red Set

The problem cards have been designed for students to use in conjunction with the main work
described in the teachers' guide. It is intended that students should at least be able to 'have a go' at most of the questions, but they should also be encouraged to think round a problem and to devise alternatives and generalisations.

The red pack contains thirty-five problems which are intended to be more challenging than the purple and the green set of problems. This resource contains the problems cards and the teachers guide containing the solutions and discussion which could lead to creative follow-up work.

The problems could lead to uses and discussions of the following mathematical topics: sets, Venn diagrams, rules for divisibility, square numbers, consecutive numbers, inequalities, Pascal's triangle, mappings, commutative and associative laws, probability, similarity, symmetry and group theory.
