Parabola
This file provides a well illustrated introduction to the properties of a parabola. It begins by illustrating the locus of a parabola. A point on the curve can be moved to clearly illustrate that the distance from the focus is equal to the distance from the directrix. The parameter can be altered in y2=4ax showing how the focus and directrix change.
The next five sheets deal with various properties of tangents, normals and their intersections especially those related to the focal chord. The final sheet shows the parabolic property of all long distance transmitters and receivers.

This program was designed by be viewed on a screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768. Users may have to adjust the resolution of their screen for the pages to display as was originally intended. The program uses macros which need to be enabled on users’ machine.
