Frequency Tables and Quantiles

This excel resource contains a series of interactive sheets exploring frequency tables and quartiles.

The first sheet calculates the mean from a frequency table. The second calculates an estimate for the mean from a grouped frequency table. New examples for both sheets can be generated at the click of a button.

The third interactive sheet demonstrates how linear coding can be used to calculate an estimate of the mean from a table. The assumed mean and divisor used can be altered to demonstrate the effect on the calculation.

The next sheet calculates the quartiles for a skewed set of grouped data using a cumulative frequency table.

In a similar way the next two sheets calculate the deciles, and then percentiles, for a set of grouped data.
