Simultaneous Equations

This contains two excel programs with interactive spreadsheets designed to show the graphical solution to pairs of simultaneous equations and provide their solutions.

Simultaneous Equations: Linear
This excel workbook generates sets of pairs of linear equations, shows their graphs and can show or hide their solutions. The five sheets begin with simple equations then the level of challenge increases to include negative and/or fractional solutions. The workbook contains a further eight worksheets providing further questions for use in the classroom.

Simultaneous Equations: Non-Linear
This excel workbook begins with a worksheet which shows a set of coordinates and five pairs of equations. Each pair of equations is a linear equation and y=x2. Clicking on appropriate cells reveals the graph or the solutions. Solutions to this first sheet are all integers. Other sheets deal with more difficult quadratics, two quadratics and the intersection of a line and a circle. This workbook has a worksheet of questions suitable for use in the classroom.

Note
This program was designed to be viewed on a screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768. Users may have to adjust the resolution of their screen for the pages to display as was originally intended. The program uses macros which need to be enabled on a machine.
