Hexahexaflexagon

This presentation, from Paul Curzon at QMUL, uses a folded paper geometric shape called a hexahexaflexagon to teach about abstraction, data representation and graph data structures, while encouraging computational thinking. A video (linked from within the presentation) shows how to make one of the geometrical models – further instructions are widely available on the worldwide web.

A graph and a finite-state machine of the hexahexaflexagon is created, and then examples from the real world (such as alarm clocks, digital watches etc) are examined.
This resource would support learning about algorithms in upper-secondary schools and post-16.
