Place Value: Year Six

This series of interactive excel sheets is aimed at Year Six students and explores place value. New questions can be generated each time by the click of a button. To check the answers click on the smiley face.

The first sheet generates a series of eight numbers. Students have to match the number in words with the equivalent value in digits.

In the second sheet students are asked to multiply a starting number by successive powers of ten to reach a target number.

The third sheet generates five multiplication questions involving powers of ten; students have to complete the missing values. The following sheet generates a series of division questions.

The final three sheets explore converting metric units for area. The first sheet illustrates that 1 cm2 is equivalent to 100mm2. The second shows the equivalence between a square metre and square centimetres and the final sheet looks at converting between kilometre and metre squares.
