Going Underground

 

This learning pack provides many activities from across the curriculum, which are all linked to the topic of ‘Going Underground’. They all sit within the context of London, but may also be used by schools teaching outside the capital. The pack is designed so that you can pick and choose between the topics, which are:

Underground Poetry- Analysing poetry on the London Underground and writing poems.

Art and Design on the Underground- explore art in the underground and create a Labyrinth artwork, find out about the history of design on the underground, then design and make their own tube map, logo or poster.

Underground Londinium- exploring life as a child in Roman London and finding out about the world of the Roman amphitheatre,

The Underground World of Crime and Punishment- examining crime and punishment through the city’s underground prisons and dungeons and looking at the most infamous of all London’s underground conspiracies – the Gunpowder Plot.

Fossilised London- Finding out about the many fossils discovered under London, identifying animals from their fossils and finding out about how fossils are formed.
