Mechanical technician

Having completed her four year apprenticeship scheme at the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy, Lydia is currently involved in nuclear fusion research, and specifically in pre-assembly of parts that are used to build a reactor. Her role requires checking if the parts are built and work as they should. Lydia describes her route into engineering and what she enjoys most about her work: a variety of challenging tasks, team working, and the problem-solving nature of engineering.
