Silver award: design the ultimate pizza box

Students investigate the best material for a pizza box, with possible tests including:

  • Thermal conductivity - Design a test to see which materials keep a pizza the hottest.
  • Strength - Design a test to see which materials will be able to protect a pizza from the sorts of bumps it might experience. Remember, you may need more than one test, because there are different sorts of strength.
  • Toxicity - Design a test to make sure the materials used won’t contaminate the food
  • Assembly - Can the materials easily be made into the right shape?
