Power for everyone everywhere

This activity allows pupils to explore the principles of wind turbine movement, apply them and work in teams to plan and build a miniature wind turbine. Turbine performance is also evaluated after testing.

The activities introduce the notion of unequal access to reliable electricity in the world and the impact this can have on lives. Case studies explain how different communities around the world are addressing this issue locally and highlights the global Sustainable Development Goals initiative.

The activities also Introduce the role that engineering plays in access to electricity through a Q&A activity which draws upon students existing knowledge of energy resources.
