Farm Machine 2040 (English)

Linked to Farmvention, produced by the National Farmers Union (NFU), this resource provides a series of four activities based around teaching of simple machines, including: forces, levers, gears and pulleys. Designed to help children to think about the day to day issues faced by farmers, each resource has been created in partnership with the Association of Science Education (ASE). These activities include:

  • Exploring how farmers use machinery reliant on friction, to help them do their jobs – children investigate friction
  • Investigating how levers, gears and pulleys are used in farm machinery
  • Creating their own future farm machine whilst applying their understanding to a persuasive advert selling their design
