Composite materials

These diagnostic questions and response activities (contained in the zip file) support students in being able to:

  • Identify if a material is a composite.
  • Recognise that materials within a composite keep their own properties.
  • Predict properties of a composite material based on the properties of the materials from which it is made.
  • Select the appropriate composite material for an object based on the structures of the combined materials.
  • Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of different composite materials to make a specific object.

The resources include details of common misconceptions and a summary of the research upon which the resources are based.
