Eukaryotic and prokaryotic cell structure

These diagnostic questions and response activities (contained in the zip file) support students in being able to:

  • Use a light microscope to make and record observations of a variety of cell types.
  • Describe the common structures of eukaryotic cells and the functions of these structures.
  • Describe the common structures of prokaryotic cells and the functions of these structures.
  • Distinguish between eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells on the basis of their structures and sizes.
  • Use standard form (scientific notation) when describing the number and size of eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells.

The resources include details of common misconceptions and a summary of the research upon which the resources are based.
