Sweeteners
This resource can be used to introduce how sweeteners and sugars affect blood sugar levels with a focus upon the condition of diabetes. A series of text based activities give an introduction to diabetes with a case study comprehension task as well as graphs and data table information to analyse. The foods diabetics must include in their diet forms part of a research task where a booklet is designed containing suitable menus and recipes. Two different investigations look at differences in the densities of sweeteners and sugar and the chemical diagnostic test for diabetes is carried out on a faux urine sample.
