Pizza swirls

Designed to be accessible for all primary aged children, this activity guides you and your pupils through the simple steps to design, measure, mix and bake puff-pastry pizza whirls. Suitable for ages four to eleven, this could be carried out as part of a design and technology or maths lesson, and is simple to follow, making it suitable for learning at home and in class. Mapped to the UK curricula , this resource is designed in the theme of ‘celebration’ allowing children to have fun, whilst applying their maths and design and technology skills. This activity could be used as a main lesson activity to teach sketching design ideas and preparing food products for particular events. It could also be used as part of a wider scheme of learning to support focused practical skills within food lessons or, through measuring and weighing ingredients, to support the development of basic mathematical skills.
