Maths tea party

Designed to be accessible for all primary aged children, this activity guides you and your pupils through a range of fun maths related ‘tea-party’ problems. This could be carried out as part of a design and technology or maths lesson, and is simple to follow, making it suitable for learning at home and in class. Mapped to the UK curricula, this resource is designed in the theme of ‘celebration’ allowing children to have fun, whilst applying their maths and design and technology skills. This lesson links to Latin Squares or Euler Squares. Each part of the problem is full of opportunity to explore rotation and symmetry and to use these as problem solving strategies. Designed with pupils of all ages in mind, this challenge allows them to practice and apply a range of problem solving strategies, including trial and improvement, pattern spotting and using known strategies to tackle a new problem.
