How do CO₂ emissions link to global temperatures?
The aim of this resource is to answer the question how do CO₂ emissions link to global temperatures? This lesson, linked to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, explores the concept of a carbon budget. To answer the question, students create a pie chart to illustrate the historic carbon budget and the estimated remaining amount of carbon in the budget for the 1.5C target. They also draw a line graph to illustrate the relationship between cumulate carbon dioxide emissions and global temperature and consider which countries have emitted the most carbon dioxide.
