Health and Science Education was the ninth in a series of 12 booklets published by Heinemann and the Association for Science Education to explore the issues arising from moving towards a broad and balanced science education for all young people. The main purpose of this booklet was to:
*help science teachers form their own definitions of health and health education
*enable science teachers to stimulate youngsters to share and periodically to reconsider their ideas and feelings about health
*outline various approaches to teaching both science and health education
*help science teachers place their health education lessons in the context of the whole curriculum
*help science teachers contribute to or organise a cross-curricular course in health education in schools
*help science teachers to evaluate courses and resources for health education
*help science teachers to plan and develop cross-curricular courses, in the light of their own school health education policy.
The booklet featured a number of case studies to illustrate the implications and applications of the ideas discussed.
