Mathematics Key Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4: fourth year 1992-93

Commenting on standards achieved in mathematics, this report states that in three-quarters of all the lessons standards of achievement were satisfactory or better, significantly higher than last year's sample when the corresponding figure was about two-thirds. Good standards were achieved in one-quarter of all the lessons.

The overall quality of the work in Key Stage 1 and Year 10 was significantly better than the 1991-92 sample. In Key Stage 3 the improvement noted last year has continued. Key Stage 2 remains an area of concern, particularly Years 3 and 5.
