Cambridge primary mathematics: teacher's resource - 1

This teacher's resource for stage 1 will fully support teachers to get the best from their learners and effectively use the learner's book and games book. Detailed lesson plans based on the course objectives are offered, along with additional activity ideas.

Teachers will be guided to formatively assess their learners' understanding. They will have the confidence to engage the class in mathematical discussion and encourage learners to justify answers and make connections between ideas. Answers to the learner's book and all photocopiable sheets required are provided.

All book content, plus more, is included on the CD for convenience. Written for use with the 'Cambridge primary mathematics curriculum framework', and endorsed by Cambridge international examinations, the 'Cambridge primary mathematics' series is informed by the most up-to-date teaching philosophies from around the world. It aims to support teachers to help all learners become confident and successful mathematicians through a fun and engaging scheme.

Through an investigatory approach children learn the skills of problem solving in the context of other mathematical strands in the course. The course will encourage learners to be independent thinkers with the confidence to tackle a wide range of problems who understand the value and relevance of their mathematics.

Classroom discussion is encouraged to help learners become good mathematical communicators, to justify answers and to make connections between ideas. This series is part of 'Cambridge maths', a project between Cambridge University Press and Cambridge international examinations and is appropriate for learners sitting the primary checkpoint test.
