Professor Vernon covers a wide variety of work: studies of genius and of highly talented children; the nature of inspiration in the arts and sciences, illustrated by introspective material by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Stephen Spender and Henry Poincare; attempts to measure creative talents by 'open-ended' or 'divergent thinking' tests; the personality of the creative individual; and the effect of education or special training on the development of creativity.
