This is a book for mathematics teachers in secondary schools, which shows how a historical perspective can be used to introduce or develop mathematical topics. The books covers both the mathematics used by ancient civilisations and more modern areas. There is sufficient historical background for the material to be used without the necessity for further research, although there are references which can be followed up. There are many photocopiable worksheets for use in the classroom, some designed for reading and discussion and others with questions or written exercises. The book contains notes giving guidance on how to use the worksheets.
