Virtual Sport

In this video from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), engineers explain the technology behind Wii controllers. Micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS) is the technology behind games console controllers and products like air bags. New applications for this technology are being found daily, and engineers explain how they are now designing products which will be in use five years from now.

This video can be use to highlight careers in engineering and supports a full set of resources based around the connection between society and health and the development of new technologies, such as Nintendo Wii. These resources can be found in the Wii sub-collection.
