Calculation Activities for Students Aged 11-13
A selection of resources published by BEAM for teachers of Key Stage Three mathematics. It includes challenging problems and puzzles, open-ended investigations and resources to practise and consolidate students' mathematical understanding. The activities and their mathematical content are: *Digits problem - looking at multiplication *Dropped digits - using the four rules and order of operations *Hit the target - using the four rules of number to make a target number *Investigating runs - adding consecutive numbers and finding digit sums *Mean target - finding the mean average of two numbers *Multiplication puzzle *Self-checking grid - the four rules of number *Tulips - simplifying a problem by pattern spotting
