Histograms

This is a series of interactive excel sheets that look at histograms.

The first sheet contains a histogram displaying a summary of time spent travelling to work. A new set of data can be generated at the click of a button. Alongside the graph tables calculating class width and frequency density can be explored.

The next sheet generates a new distribution for cross-country race times. Individual frequency values can be revealed, allowing pupils to calculate the remaining frequencies from the histogram and/or frequency density table.

The third histogram in the file summarises supermarket shopping bills. Students have to complete missing values in the frequency table, and missing bars from the chart. The answers can be revealed at the click of a button.

The next sheet allows students to estimate the mode when given a histogram and frequency table. The position and value of the mode can then be revealed.

The final sheet allows students to estimate the median when given histogram and frequency table. The position of the median can then be revealed.
