British and International Golf Greenkeepers' Association - STEM Ambassador resources

This set of 13 activities have been designed to give staff at golf courses who are STEM Ambassadors, in particular greenkeepers, some ideas on how to run some STEM based sessions for pupils aged 9 to 13 years of age to highlight the work of greenkeepers and their important role in maintaining a golf course in a good condition for the players whilst helping to protect the environment.

The activities highlight various aspects of STEM such as: 

• maths to calculate large areas
• engineering and technology to look at how some tools operate
• science, ranging from looking at habitats and food chains on a gold course, to showing how prisms and Stimpmeters work.  

The aim of these resources is to use STEM activities to introduce pupils to the career opportunities available in golf and the skills and knowledge required to do these jobs. 

The activities have been split into 2 separate age groups:

• 9 to 11 years
• 11 to 14 years
